Fall 2008 led to the main room of the
basement being finished so that the kids would have a place to play this winter since I don't want to
take Piper outside when it is very cold out (plus it got most of the toys out of the family room!).
We had most of the supplies,
so it was just taking the time to do it. It meant a temporary stop on work in the woodshop, but it was worth it.

Some of the wallboard was fiberglass based, so we had to watch the kids when they would come down to
see what progress Daddy hadmade. We had to sacrifice a few weeks of evenings with Daddy to accomplish
the work, but the kids love the result. After the drywall was up, Chris worked on mudding and taping
the room. I got to help fill the holes when all of the kids were asleep.

The kids and I also got to make a trip to get the cork for the floor. Once we got that, Chris
was able to put it down, put down the radiant heat system for the floor, and put down the flooring
(Alyx, Bailey, Piper, and I helped over a few nights to get half of the floor done, and cork down
over the rest). When Grandma B. and Aunt Kim visisted in early December, they primed the basement
walls so Mommy could stop worrying about us touching the fiberglass and helped Daddy finish the
floor. It's now our favorite spot to play! As you can see below, it's where the Christmas tree went up this year.
